The makeup of your vessel coupled with the source of its power will dictate the medium to ride on. This medium or space which a vessel is to inhabit is coupled nicely with the shape and power source of the vehicle that rides in it best. Let’s take a few transportation vehicles for example. Cars have tires and a motor to help propel it down the medium of a road. Airplanes have wings, a cockpit and a motor that are designed to be lifted by moving air. Most relevantly boats have a water proof hull shaped by the type of medium (sea, river, lake) it rides on. The hull may take a different shape or style that serves best the medium its designed for, and the motor or power source will also reflect the water in which it is to ride through (sail for wind, motor and prop for deeper waters, jet propulsion for shallow water) etc.
Having already taken time to reflect on the proper attributes that makes the vessel of YOU shine, this knowledge is fundamental to deciding how to go about applying yourself to the extended world. By knowing what you are made of and what powers you, this will give great clarity on what you should apply this gift of your life towards. Reflecting back on all the attributes that make you who you authentically are, there is definitely a medium that would best serve the gifts and talents you bring into this world. For example, if you are a musician, carving out even a small niche that can accommodate the spirit that makes you smile (i.e. even playing in a local club or church group) is a great place to start. Or say if you have a particular mechanical ability, starting out small and trying out your skills locally is a great way to dive into the particular mechanical niche you love to apply yourself toward. The point is, the gifts and talents you have that make you smile are the very medium you need to seek out in your local community to start testing your vessel and spirit against the real world. It’s amazing that these small sea trials (which every vessel commissioned is required to do before big journeys) is what needs to be done before committing to a large journey. Not only will it be a great way to see if your gifts and talents are truly what make you smile, but it also helps flesh out flaws in the vessel you think you have. These flaws can always be augment later to make the vessel more robust.
Sea trials are also great for getting your local community engaged in expanding their own Laike Life journey. After all, any large expedition needs an extended crew to assist, and maybe your Aspiration might just be the encouragement to launch more vessels to setting the world ablaze and curing it from the illness of stale living. In the end, the medium you ride (the crowd that lifts you up to new heights) will be dictated by the type, shape, and power source of the vessel that is YOU.
So what is the medium that helps lift your vessel? For mechanics-things mechanical, for musicians- audiences and concerts and albums, for artists- the mode of art that expresses the artist most freely, for deep thinkers-books and articles online or even seminars, and the list goes on. All require a deep understanding of who you truly and unshakably are. From this knowledge, make a good run at trying your vessel up against the medium you think best compliments your vessel. Keep trying this until you find something that connects. Once you think you have found it, dive in QUICKLY to test the water and start applying your gifts and talents. You might be surprised who you meet while immersed in your new found passion!
Continuing on our Laike Life Journey, once this medium to ride on is discovered, the last important equipment to check and discover is an anchor while in port. In the last post of this series, we will go over what this anchor might be for your vessel and reflect on its importance in the life of your vessel and journey.
